Party Planning

How To Plan The Perfect Party

 

We wanted to help you plan the perfect party! So we have come up with a timeline to help to organize and prepare for the big day!

3-6 Months Before:

Decide on a theme! Whether it be a color scheme or a character theme, choose one and start looking for ideas!

Our top ideas are:

1) For baby showers: Birds

2) For a boys 1st bday: Little Man birthday party (with top hats and bow ties!)

3) For a girls bday: Ladybug

4) For a winter party: Winter One-deland (with penguins!)

5) For a summer party: Bubbles!

1-2 Months Before:

 

Decide on a time, place and guest list!
Order your invitations and decorations! Common courtesy says people need about a month notice for a party, so get the invites out within this time! Don't forget to put an RSVP date so you know how many people are coming and can stat getting everything ready!

Three weeks ahead:

Make a paper goods list (cups, plates, napkins, silverware, serving utensils and platters)
If you need to rent tables and chairs: start looking into it!

Two weeks ahead:

Make a list of food you will be serving.
Count your RSVP's so you know how many people are coming.

One week ahead:

Make a grocery list: On average, each person eats 8-12 hors d’oeuvres at a party.
Count RSVP's

3 days aheas ahead:

 

 

Go grocery shopping

Cook any foods you can freeze and just thaw the day of the party.

 

Big Day:

 

Get fresh flowers

get ice

decorate

enjoy the day!

 



Helpful hints:
      Use a crock-pot to keep warm dips or chili hot throughout the party.
      Use plastic silverware and paper products for easy clean up.
      Have a drink station: put blank labels on the cups and throw some sharpies down so people can write their names on their cups...you will go through a lot less cups this way!
      If possible set aside a time in the beginning of the party to gather everyone and introduce everyone, its a great way to make the guests feel welcome!

This was probably our most colorful bubble party yet! We used tons of colors especially on these hanging decorations!

Large colorful ages with names popped off the number are very detailed, especially with the extra little detail of the three bubbles in the corner of the number!

And large hanging bubbles with the child's name in all different colors! Using the shimmer white really make them look like bubbles!

crafting with kiddos- finger paint!

So I must admit that with being a little over five weeks away from my due date, I've been a little less than creative with entertaining my two and half year old. She's been watching a lot of TV, which is fine, but it's more than I would normally like.

 

Finally one day the guilt got to me and I decided I needed to come up with some new activities for her to do that she could on her own without a WHOLE lot of me running around with her.

 

Enter....... FINGER PAINTING!

 

I got this GIANT easel pad and WASHABLE (that's key!) finger paint as well as an easel by pottery barn off of amazon.

 

I put it all on a paper plate for her to mix together as she pleased

 

 

It took her a few minutes to get over the "mess" factor and realize it was ok for her hands to be "dirty"

 

 

So serious!!

 

My little Picasso at work! :) I just love the little undies and this Melissa and doug painters smock!

 

So proud of herself! "I LOVE painting!!!!!"

 

Great success! It kept her REALLY busy for a good 20 minutes which was just enough time to get some lunch prepared for the two of us. :) Or, in a few short weeks, I'm hoping she can do this while I nurse!

 

The clean up was then SO simple! Just used a wet washcloth and it all came off immediately!!! Gotta love that!

 

We have since expanded a little bit to include singing songs and painting those songs. More on that in a future entry!
