Here's another activity you can do on a cold day! I just bought a bag of beans and saved an egg carton. I gave my son a bunch of beans in a bowl and showed him how to put them in the cups of the egg carton. He is only a year and a half so we were exactly sorting them yet, just practicing putting them in different places. I did find that some of the beans in the bag were REALLY small and hard to manipulate. (The small green and yellow ones.)
He did of course eventually get bored of this and began throwing them across the kitchen...but then we played the clean up game and moved on to something else!
