Fall for me means beautiful weather and great outdoor activities from nature walks to pumpkin patches!
We went on a nature walk the other day to collect some things. We found beautiful leaves, acorns, sticks and grass! There are tons of things you can do with your findings when you get home, but just going for a walk and seeing nature is a great activity alone! Check back for crafts we did with our nature items! Toddler Time!-Flash Cards!

Being a teacher I am always looking for new interesting ways to teach my son things. He knows the letters of the alphabet (most of the time....), but I wanted to do more with letters. So I got a few things to focus on that!

Flashcards, although boring, are a great teaching tool, if you know how to use them! There are TONS of games you can play with all different levels.

Here are some games you can play using something as simple as flashcards:

1) Bring your flashcards with you on a walk. Pull out a letter and ask your little one to find that letter. If your child is older you can find things that start with that letter.

2) Find all the cards with the letters in your name!

3) Sort the cards. Your can put them in ABC order, or sort by the pictures. All fruit in one pile, nature, animals...

4) Matching. Get two sets and have your little one find matching cards.

5)Line up the cards on the floor. Have your little one close their eyes and take a card away. See if they can figure out what's missing!

Under the Sea baby shower Banner

Even though most of our banners say "Happy Birthday", any of these themes can be used for all sorts of parties!
Our under the sea theme was recently used as a baby shower theme!

So, instead of "happy birthday", the banner read "It's a boy" and the baby's name "Scotty"!

Cupcake Birthday Banner

I love this banner because it is great for ANY season. A lot of our banners work well in specific seasons like our snowflake banner and bubble banners. But this one can be used for any time of the year because it is just cupcakes!

We put an adorable heart in between the words "happy" and "birthday" for the child's age!

The letters are blue and shadowed yellow.

The scallops are teal and we used a pink chevron striped patterned paper!

Love it, but not the colors you were looking for? Just ask for different colors, we love changing colors! Pin It Now!

Smurf first year montage

Our custom Smurf party included a montage. However, she did not want the traditional banner style with clips on the back. She wanted separate pieces so she could put it on the wall.
So this is what we sent her, and she can put the photos on the red paper and then place each one on the wall in any design she wants! We can't wait to see photos from this party!

Toddler Time- Magnets

Letters, letters and more letters! Like I said last week, I am focusing on letters. Although my son knows them, I want to get him thinking about them and noticing all that you can do with them.

So, I got some magnet letters and a cookie sheet. We spelled his name and then he told me words he wanted to spell as well!

Once he is a little older we can focus on word families by adding an ending and having him put letters in front to create words such as:
at: bat, cat, sat, fat, rat, flat.....

Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Banner

Here it is, probably THE most intricate character we have EVER created:

This was a completely custom theme that took hours to develop, create, cut, and put together.

It was all worth it because in the end....she's to cute!

We used pink, red, white and green for the banner and put a strawberry in the middle for the age!
The letters are shadowed and popped off of the pink patterned paper and then glued onto the red scallops.

Super Hero Haning Decorations

We created two types of Super Hero Hanging decorations.
The first type are the traditional words used in comic books and old superhero movies! So cute! We can even change them to say your child's name instead!

The second type we can create are the actual super heros! We can do them all the same or use any combination of characters!

Picky Eaters

As moms we always want what is best for our children, but we also need to step wisely and pick our battles. However, we were determined to WIN THIS BATTLE!!!
The Battle Of The Picky Eater is one most mom's can relate to. It was getting to the point where we didn't care WHAT they ate as long as food was being digested into those little bellies!
Then, one fine afternoon, desperate and looking for a new spin on meals, Mama Reina decided to give the "sectioned plate" a try. And....It worked! So of course she told me and I hopped on the sectioned plate train!

There are so many reasons this is an awesome idea:
1) It forces me to have a variety of well balanced food in the house to choose from.
2) It gives the child options. He can choose what to eat first, second, third...
3) It helps decrease the serving sizes of the not-so-great stuff, while still allowing them a little bit!
4) It allows me to put something new on the plate without him getting upset, because there are two or three other things he knows he likes to eat.

Here is my happy boy after his first sectioned plate meal!
Clockwise: cheese, pasta (from our leftover family dinner), pretzels, pear slices.
He even ate more after this!

Other options:
half a sandwich
 fruit
crackers
chips and guacamole
shredded cheese
honey and apples
veggies with ranch dressing
pita and hummus
chicken nuggets and ketchup
grilled cheese
applesauce
fruit cups
nutella on toast
celery and peanut butter
granola bar
yogurt
smoothie
cottage cheese
granola with yogurt

Crafting with kiddios!

We have literally been talking about this for a year! We even had ALL the supplies and was never able to get it done...until now!!
What you will need:
A canvas: any size you want! (But the larger you get the more "work" your little one will have, so if they get distracted quickly, I would use a smaller canvas)
Finger paint (or any paint you are comfortable letting your little one use)
painters tape (after actually doing the craft, I would recommend the skinniest one you can find!)

Make your design with tape (you may want to do this ahead of time, it can take awhile getting it just right and your little one might get antsy!)

Make sure to push down on the tape pretty good to avoid letting the paint bleed under the tape.

Let them paint! Either using a paint brush....

or your hands!!

Make sure its COVERED in paint and then let it dry. Peel the tape and you have your masterpiece!
